Just time for a short note regarding our Sooners. Both offense and defense were showing they are better than our won/loss record indicates. IN MY OPINION - - ANY TEAM experiencing the injuries that the Sooners have had this year would not be showing this good. With two games left in the regular season our defense ranks among the elite and against TA&M our offense (in spit of injuries) showed real improvement. Now we travel to Lubbock to play a team that we usually shut down pretty well. If you jog your memory a little you'll remember that while TA&M talks about their "12th man" - - the Red Raiders can make that claim as well, BUT - - in this case, he wears stripes and carries a yellow flag. It will be an exciting game - AND - each victory leads us toward a bigger, better bowl game.
The Sooners will support a "new look" after being picked by Nike to show off a new style uniform. I'm not sure I like changing our look - - But, as always, I'm kinda hooked on the team that will be showing off the "new look". With the "new look" the Sooners will be wearing white helmets.
Now - - some good news and bad news - - the bad news is that freshman running back Jonathan Miller has suffered knee damage and will not play again this year. The good news - - DeMarco Murray says he plans to return for his senior year. So it appears that we are LOADED with running backs with two OUTSTANDING RBs joining us next summer.
It was good to have John Kinsey, who now lives in Oklahoma, joining us for last week's game. With the season winding down, it sure would be nice to see some of you Sooners who were with us as we laid the "foundation" for the Gulf Coast Sooners. Hope to see you Saturday!
