Sorry, I had to miss our first watch party of the year - - but my presence was needed at the game. Apparently, my being there didn't help a whole lot - - BUT - - I did my best - - so don't be too hard on me.
I am disappointed in the outcome of the game and the way the Sooners played - - BUT - - I assure you that NOBODY is more disappointed than the players and the coaches. AND, they have put MUCH MORE into the game than any of those who are jumping ship and complaining.
KNOW WHAT??? I'm still a Sooner - - I'm excited about this team - - the goals for championships are still there, (Remember, we lost mid-season last year and still ended up playing for the National Championship.) - - I am now glad that Idaho State, Tulsa, and an open date are on our schedule - - I like the good reports I'm hearing on Bradford and Gresham and wish them a speedy recovery - - I like the fact that our players and coaches are not making excuses and giving credit to a well played game by a good BYU team - - a see a silver lining in that WHEN Sam returns he will be backed by a QB with "game experience" - - AND, finally, I'll be glad to see our team on our home turf in Norman again!!!
NOW - - I have never seen a stadium - - high school, college, or pro - - that is less prepared for a good game experience than the new Cowboy Stadium. I'll elaborate, to those who care, about the experience at our second watch party. Just a few comments: The stadium was very impressive from the outside - - and that's where good impressions ended - - well, actually, frustration began while still outside - - because there was NO DIRECTIONS OR HELP to find your assigned parking lot. Once inside - - the acoustics were horrendous - - we knew the Sooner Pride was playing, but - - you could not hear them. There was no score board to tell us what play, how many yards, how many time outs, stats, or whatever. We had hoped to watch other games as we waited for our game to start - - NO OTHER GAMES were shown - - NO OTHER SCORES were shown - - no escalators, $5 bottled water, and seats were so small that many people had trouble wedging into them. I'm unsure if there was an anybody commenting on the game over the sound system - - they certainly were not heard. Lot's of other stuff I'll share (at your request) but, the "high light" of the stadium experience was that our ponies, Boomer and Sooner, apparently agreed with the above. One of them took a BIG dump on "Jerry's" new carpet and was banned from the carpet for the rest of the game. (I'm sorry the Big 12 Championship game will be played there and I hope the OU/Texas games NEVER goes there.)
Our next game is PPV and the Watch Party will be hosted by the Ramsey's in Spanish Fort; a map, for your convenience, is posted on our web site under events - - see www.gulfcoastsooners.com.
